Any Given Tuesday
I used to think Tuesdays were boring, because nothing ever happened on them. Monday has the authority of starting a week, Wednesday has the "Hump" day title, Thursday is a good day because it sits next to Friday and Friday, well, I don't even have to explain that one. Did you know 9/11 happened on a Tuesday? That's where it all changed for me. I suddenly had a new respect for an old discarded (mostly) day. I sincerely hope that you'll continue reading. What has happened too much these days, is that people have forgotten what that day felt like. I say "day", but it was weeks before I was back to normal. How about you? My six year old saw everything, but didnt "see", because you couldnt really "see" the damage that had been done (except of course for the obvious death and destruction). It changed all of our lives that day. I now feel that I have some camaraderie with those who heard the news on December 7, 1941 (if you dont recall, that was the attack on Pearl Harbor). Albeit, a camaraderie I could have done without. I cried and cried and then I cried some more. I longed to hear that familiar sound of a plane overhead. You know the one, where you're sleeping and you hear an engine droning on and on until it gets out of earshot. Believe it or not, I savor those planes these days. I take a moment to look up and I now understand how great it is to be able to look up and hear and see an airplane flying to an unknown destination, but at least able to fly. Yes, I lower my head and go on about my business, but somewhere deep inside there is a cheerleader jumping up and down and waving her poms poms and saying "Go, good ole USA!!
